“Today I spoke to a receptionist three times and throughout each telephone conversation she went beyond the call of duty in term of the information she provided namely technical support re accessing your website, further explanatory knowledge of the NHS website, in house administrative procedures, estimated time of the provision of information and how to obtain in. She was succinct, extremely patient and demonstrated kindness, understanding and I suspect compassion. I hope my brief laudatory comment are recognised.” – January 2024

“We moved near to hay on Wye a year ago and I felt very apprehensive about registering with a new surgery. My previous GP was amazing and a hard act to follow! However, my experiences of Haygarth Medical Centre have been very positive. The receptionists and dispensers are friendly and helpful and the nurses and phlebotomist always cheerful. The biggest thank you goes to the doctors I have seen who have been kind, reassuring and extremely professional. – September 2023

“Since returning to Haygarth area 6 years ago I have been very impressed with the service and treatment. With my health concerns. The reception team especially always seem to know what to do next and have never failed to steer me right. The nurses I see are very well informed and always treat me as a whole rather than individual illnesses/conditions. If a GP appt is required I am able to have one that accommodates my travel restrictions. The GP’s treat me as an adult, which I find rare in some places, and are happy to five me some control for further investigations. The summary is that I feel absolutely safe with me care and know that the staff are there whenever I need them. I also have a 13 year old granddaughter who have some emotional problems and I have received much information to help with her care on many occasions. This help keeps her in school and not at the surgery which stresses her. When medical intervention has been required it has been prompt and delivered with patience and understanding. All the staff seem focused on doing what is best for her whilst also accommodating her anxieties. Once again I feel that her care in excellent and the help I receive has avoided wasted appointments. It was an enormous relief to be offered a consultation and treatment for which I was most grateful. “We wanted to pass on our gratitude and heartfelt thanks to the Dr for her support, kindness, and compassion to us whist our mother had covid. Without her support and swiftness in getting her admitted we would have lost her within days. Within hours of being admitted she was diagnosed with pneumonia in addition to other bacterial infections. She has now been discharged and is continuing her recover at home. She was extremely caring, kind, sensitive and professional. She really took the time to make me feel comfortable and explained the process in a way that I haven’t had before. She was very informative and help explain how to check for any symptoms and answered any questions I had. “Hello, I was staying in Hay-On-Wye last week and fell ill, I contacted my GP, who advised that I need to be seen by a doctors, ideally within the next two hours. I contacted Haygarth surgery, and you colleagues saw me as soon as I could get there. They were brilliant; I want to praise their care and concern for my condition. “I will keep this as concise as possible. My initial call to Talgarth was answered in what I thought was an acceptable time. Very professional helpful receptionist. The triage nurse phone back again in what I thought was a very acceptable time. The triage system is excellent, it’s not in my opinion a negative filter but vital time saving information gathering system. The nurse was excellent, the information was included on the system and when later saw a GP he had the information, knew why I was there. I was later able to take this information with me when referred to another hospital, making things easier for me. My thank go to all the staff some of whom I will never meet. My final comment is in regards to the Dr I saw whom I thought was determined to do everything he could to help me, he was excellent and, in my view, provided a level of service above what I thought could be accepted. My grateful thanks to all at the 2 surgeries.” – August 2022
