Flu vaccination clinics – November update

Update – 27th November 2020

The additional vaccination stock for our under 65 year old patients who are at an increased risk of flu due to health conditions, have now been received into the practice. We have organised a flu clinic for Wednesday 2nd December for those who wish to book into clinic. Please remember that it is even more important this year to ensure you are safely vaccinated from flu. We are trying to contact as many patients as possible to invite you for a flu appointment, however please also contact us. Also, if you have received a government shielding letter, you and your household will be eligible for the vaccine.

As the telephone lines are increasingly busy, the best way to book an appointment is to email enquiries.w96002@wales.nhs.uk to request a flu appointment. Alternatively you could telephone the practice after 11am to arrange.

We are hoping to have information shortly for our 50 to 64-year-old patients who would like the vaccine, and hoping for everything to be in place for a clinic December 10th. We will advise you as soon as possible regarding this, but in the meantime please see the below statement from Powys Teaching Health Board.

Jamie Marchant, Executive Director of Primary Care, Community and Mental Health Services, said: “You may be aware of an announcement made by the Welsh Government that free flu vaccinations will now be made available to people aged 50yrs to 64yrs.

“Please be patient whilst we work with our colleagues in GP practices and Community Pharmacies to plan for this extension. We kindly ask that you do not contact your GP or Community Pharmacy at this time regarding the flu vaccine. We will provide an update as soon as possible with information about how and from where people can access the vaccine but please be aware the flu vaccine may not be available from all our GP practices or Community Pharmacies for this new eligible group of 50-64 yrs old.

“Please note, if you are aged between 50yrs and 64yrs with a long-term health condition and have already received an invitation to receive a flu vaccine, please proceed to book your appointment as requested by your GP practice.”
