COVID Booster Programme

The COVID Booster programme is currently underway and is being managed by Powys Teaching Health Board.  Patients who are eligible to receive the COVID booster will be invited to attend one of the MVCs (Mass Vaccination Centres) in Newtown, Builth Wells and Bronllys,  this includes patients who received their 1st and 2nd Covid vaccination at the practice.

Who is being offered a booster?

Powys Local Health Board are offering a booster to:

  • Those living in residential care homes for older adults
  • All adults aged 50 years or over
  • Frontline health and social care workers
  • All those aged 16 to 49 years with underlying health conditions that put them at higher risk of severe COVID-19, and adult carers
  • Adult household contacts of immunosuppressed

When is the booster offered?

Based on the national guidance the booster must be provided no sooner than six months after their second dose

You should normally expect to receive an initiation for your booster between 6-8 months after your second dose, if you are in one of the categories above.
