With the ongoing emergence of covid 19 variants in our communities, it is important to understand the role that testing provides, and the difference between lateral flow and PCR testing. Lateral flow testing is for people who do not have symptoms (asymptomatic). PCR testing is for people that have symptoms. If you perform twice weekly lateral flow tests and develop symptoms of coronavirus then you must arrange for a PCR test for an accurate result. You can arrange for a PCR test by telephoning 119 or booking online at gov.uk.
